Term2 Week2 Journal Entry

In recent history, only one woman was believed to have succesfully escaped the world's so-called greatest prison, in England. It was Maya Bordeux. Some had seen what she had done. It was on the surveillance camera.

She had the power to poison others, blood leaking from their eyes, every moment she got very anxious. Well, that explained most of the deaths she caused. Ever since she discovered her ability, she felt helpless that she couldn't do a thing about it. For years, she has been on the run, hiding at covert places, fabricating a new name for herself.

Given her sorry plight, one potential reason why this had happened could be because that she had suppressed her feelings every time it happened. Resulting in the cumulative effects of it. Still, the police are still trying to look for her, as she poses a strong danger.

It has been 30 years already.

Persuasive Writing - Computer Game Addiction

Most of the time, many parent's first reaction to the mention of computer games is just simply one word. Bad. But it isn't all that bad. True, it might seem, as more kids and teenagers nowadays tend to spend more time staring at the screen for long periods of time, instead of focusing on their studies. But, there are positive points too.

Yes, playing computer games is not healthy for children as it strains their eyesight. Moreover, if they become addicted, it might result in eating and drinking right in front of the computer. In this state, the child only cares about the computer game and nothing else. They might lose interest in what they liked previously. For example, their hobbies, sports, going out with the family on weekends. Also, their grades in school would drop drastically if nothing is done.

Parents can help their child get out of addiction by trying to get them involved in other outgoing activities that he or she likes, to keep their minds away from the computer. Or, you could restrict them from using the computer, unless necessary. But, if this doesn't work either, you could also let them play for a limited number of hours. If serious, you should get your child counselled.

On the other hand, there are advantages to playing computer games. It can help improve the child's strategic skills, knowledge, calculation and others. Such games are also known as educational games, whose objective is to improve the child in subjects like english, maths, chinese and many more. Furthermore, it helps keep the child busy and has a possibility of improving his school grades.

While, most parents think that playing computer games is bad thing, most know how to deal with it, and their child. They should learn how to control their own children, to not let them become further addicted to computer games. Overall, it still depends on the individual itself.
