A betrayer. How foolish of me to have trusted him.
I felt like such a fool.
If only I didn't follow his plan.
Now, most probably, he would be over the moon.
For making me create such a pandemonium,
and many other heinous crimes.
Why did I even bother working with a such a callous guy like him?
I should not have even bothered to vindicate and redress his wrongdoings.
Never will I forget.

He was known for his glib tongue. Even himself did not know it would be fatal.
In school, he would use his fancy words to procrastinate his assignments. However, the teacher couldn't take it. His results were stagnant, showing a trend, always straight Fs.
In the end, he got himself into even deeper trouble.

In this kind of genre, it wasn't suitable for him. Just introducing it to him could give him an expression of grotesque, which would not be nice for depicting a picture.
But, the director was compassionate enough to give him a role in the movie. With many thanks, he treasured that role, as if it was his most coveted item.
How lucky.

But, he was in complete stupor. He realised his teacher gave him comments on his work, saying it was just too cliche`. He couldn't refute back, it was a fact.
How he wished this didn't happened.

The prisoner ran to a abandoned construction site. He looked around vigilantly, wary of the police.
For the past few days, he had been interrogated by the officers, as they wanted him to divulge the truth. It was cumbersome, but at least they managed to get some inside information.
Tough work.

Despite many times of losing the match, reproaching himself time and again, he gave a good performance that was unforgettable to many others.
Although he was wary of his opponents' moves and won the first round easily, he got complacent too soon and lost the consecutive three rounds.
After the match, he tried to be discreet in his movements to avoid the media. Unfortunately, it was tantamount to attracting even more attention to him.
Better luck next time.

"Roll and win prizes!" "Grab some food here!" "Popcorn at only $1!!" Noises of stall owners were trying emulate each other to get customers to patronize their stall. It was the annual community bazaar. Many were enjoying themselves.
While looking around, I spotted this bizarre-looking tent which was covered up in a curtain with many question marks. Strange. Curious, I slowly opened the curtain. "Hello?" not a reply. Squinting, I walked further in. It looked as if people came here to pay respect to venerable gods.
Out of the blue, "Welcome..." I turned. A crystal ball. I didn't really believe in fortune telling then, but curiosity got the better of me. Maybe, I thought, I was going to see the writing on the wall.
I sat on the chair in front. Looking around again, I tried not to worry on such a trivial matter. The fortune teller appeared.

I left the tent, wondering.

One Word Topic Essay - Friends
Everyone needs friends, including myself. But, you do not just go around picking anyhow. There are good friends and bad friends too. So, we must learn to choose our friends carefully, as it may affect your life.
Firstly, when you pick your friends, examine the clothes that they wear. The way in which they wear they clothes, gives different impressions. If they are wearing their outfits nice and neatly, it gives the impression that they are neat and tidy in their actions, so they are good friends. But, on the other hand, if they wear their clothes sloppishly, wearing fake jewellery and all that kind of stuff, it gives you the impression that they are lazy in their actions, which makes them bad friends.
Secondly, their language. The words that they use, if too often heard by yourself, you might get influenced. I fyour friends talk to you with respect, they are good friends in a sense that they respect you. But, if they talk loudly and start spewing out vulgarities from thier mouth, it is preety obvious that they are not friends you would want to be with.
Lastly, their behaviour. Good friends treat you nicely and go out together and have fun, whereas bad friends often do things like smoking, take drugs, steal, and everything else bad you can think of. Thus, their behaviour is very important in choosing friends.
In conclusion, although almost anyone can be your friend, it is better to be wise and choose your friends carefully. True friends are those who will be with you no matter what and not leave you in the lurch.

There once lived a prudent man.
He, although was big-sized, was an innocuous person. He lived by the countryside, a quiet yet serene milieu. Though many may say he's just too timid to even come out of the house, he usually is able to put up with much deleterious and strident obstacles.
Once, ferment started in the city he lived nearby. Through his experiences, he was able to resolve the matter quickly. Most took it as if nothing ever happened.
Maybe one day, he will get recognized.

It was the summer holidays. It wasn't really quite my idea, but my mother made my attend a camp. (Yes, it's camp again.) Sigh. What else could I do.
When I reached there, the scenery there wasn't as idyllic as i thought it would be. It was just an empty patch of land with no grass, some wooden house and basic neccessites. It was like a horror camp.
The other children there all loved to condescend themselves, using underhand means to mortify me, malign me of wrongdoings that I simply did not do. They didn't even have the slightest look of guilt. They bullied others however they like, as if they were omnipotent, like God.
I was just so relieved when the camp was over.

In my class, there was one who was very, very obese. I can tell you that because once, he even broke a chair by sitting on it. Poor chair. Although it is pathetic that most of my classmates tease him about his body size, he still is able to maintain that optimistic view on things and keep himself full of bliss.
Even so, his adherent and other friends are good enough for his company. Through all these humiliations, he strived to show his best at the upcoming physical fitness test. It seemed just almost impossible. But, he shockingly was able to perform with lithe, beating the class hands down. It just goes to show what kind of hard work he did before the test.
Should I say wow?

Nightfall. Who knew camp would be that tormenting? All I could remember is those sticky beads of sweat rolling down my face covered with oil. I just couldn't resist the tempation of getting a shower.
As I slumbered on my so-not-comfortable sleeping bag, I gazed at the moon, sky and those glittering stars. How relaxing. To think the night sky could be this wonderous.
Out of the blue, something amazing happened. A streak of light cut through the sky's view.
Commotions round other students got louder as the shooting star made its way across the sky. I made a wish. It was silly, but I wished that I could have more baths. Really silly. Even I laughed at my wish for a moment. Still thinking about my stupidity, I went back to sleep.
How ridiculous.

God. There must be at least something I can do! I was at home. One word. Bored.
There's always a situation where there is absolutely nothing to do. Well, you could think of other things to do, like outdoors, games, friends, chatting and stuff.
But, unfortunately for me, nothing. It's like being stuck in a prison cell. At least you can scratch the walls there.
I tried sleeping. It worked, but only for awhile. Not long I was awake and back to square one. Just like now, I'm running out of ideas to write about this journal entry. I can be bored too.
Ok, I thought of something to write.
My tummy grumbled. I took an adventure of a lifetime, exploring my kitchen. Apparently my Mom had hidden many wonderful secrets here. For example, in my very own kitchen, she was hiding my games, toys, and every other stuff she had confiscated from me. It was like some sort of miracle!
Yes! Finally I had something to do. At least it reduced my burden of waiting for Mom to get home from work.

Oh no. What I feared most had came. I stuffed my ears between my pillow and bolster, hoping it would block out any sound. There it came. "RIIIIIIIIIIING!RIIIIIIING!".
Darned alarm clock. I attempted to knock it down using a tissue paper, but obviously it didn't work.
Unwillingly, I sleepily sat there on my bed, staring at the wall opposite with a pair of eyes that looked they had never seen daylight. Darned alarm clock. I thought again. "Jason! Breakfast is ready! Come and eat it while its hot!" Mom hollered down the hallway. "Coming!" I tried to say. Maybe Mom didn't hear it. Who cares anyway.
There. Breakfast, in front of me. It didn't really look that appetising, but I still had to eat. Hoarding the food down my oesophagus, I tried to think positive. Yes, its another day. Think, about all the things you could do today! It didn't really help much.
I decided yet to slumber in my bed for just a liitle while longer.

It was yet another tormenting day at tuition. The teacher's monotonus tone was like some sort of hypnotic trance, sending me off to dreamland. However hard I pushed my eyelids up, the weight was just too much. With that, I drifted off to sleep...
"Hey!, wake up!, this isn't the time to fall asleep! Pay attention, do you understand?" Not really getting the words into my mind, I blurrily nodded my head, trying to get a hold of myself. I shook my head. I used my fingers to open my eyelids. I slapped myself a few times (not that hard of course). My efforts were totally fruitless.
With drudgery, I waited and waited. Finally, the words, "you are dismissed." were like music to my ears. Back at home, I fell on my bed and couldn't resist falling asleep. How tiring.

An array of colours flushed through the sky. Tom jumped in exultation. He had just won in the National Maths Competition.
Since little, teachers had noticed Tom had a talent in mathematics. Every single test he would score from 90 to 100, never a 89. Students called him the "Maths Prodigy".
But, ever since then, he became over-confident over his skills as he grew up. This lead to his downfall. Soon, he became an adamant person. All his friends abandoned him over his attitude. He kept faltering in his studies, and at the end of the year, his report book was full of "F"s.
But now, due to the encouragement of his teachers, friends and families he was able to make a comeback, and learned his lesson. He jumped for joy once again.

In a small little village near the countryside, there lived many. One, a boy who was suffering from a neurotic disoder, hoping that someday, there would be a cure to help him. Mortality rates in this small little village had been high, many worried that they themselves might one day get ill too.
For nearly a decade, the boy waited. During that period, he became more introspective, having thoughts that he might never get cured. To him, its was an irascible fact he couldn't get rid of.
Try as he might he struggled on with his life, until one day... He closed his eyes.

In recent history, only one woman was believed to have succesfully escaped the world's so-called greatest prison, in England. It was Maya Bordeux. Some had seen what she had done. It was on the surveillance camera.
She had the power to poison others, blood leaking from their eyes, every moment she got very anxious. Well, that explained most of the deaths she caused. Ever since she discovered her ability, she felt helpless that she couldn't do a thing about it. For years, she has been on the run, hiding at covert places, fabricating a new name for herself.
Given her sorry plight, one potential reason why this had happened could be because that she had suppressed her feelings every time it happened. Resulting in the cumulative effects of it. Still, the police are still trying to look for her, as she poses a strong danger.

Persuasive Writing - Computer Game Addiction
Most of the time, many parent's first reaction to the mention of computer games is just simply one word. Bad. But it isn't all that bad. True, it might seem, as more kids and teenagers nowadays tend to spend more time staring at the screen for long periods of time, instead of focusing on their studies. But, there are positive points too.
Yes, playing computer games is not healthy for children as it strains their eyesight. Moreover, if they become addicted, it might result in eating and drinking right in front of the computer. In this state, the child only cares about the computer game and nothing else. They might lose interest in what they liked previously. For example, their hobbies, sports, going out with the family on weekends. Also, their grades in school would drop drastically if nothing is done.
Parents can help their child get out of addiction by trying to get them involved in other outgoing activities that he or she likes, to keep their minds away from the computer. Or, you could restrict them from using the computer, unless necessary. But, if this doesn't work either, you could also let them play for a limited number of hours. If serious, you should get your child counselled.
On the other hand, there are advantages to playing computer games. It can help improve the child's strategic skills, knowledge, calculation and others. Such games are also known as educational games, whose objective is to improve the child in subjects like english, maths, chinese and many more. Furthermore, it helps keep the child busy and has a possibility of improving his school grades.
While, most parents think that playing computer games is bad thing, most know how to deal with it, and their child. They should learn how to control their own children, to not let them become further addicted to computer games. Overall, it still depends on the individual itself.

There is 1 person in my class whom I hate the host, and that's David. He is such a pesky person, for all I know he could be the most reviled student of the whole school!
About him, he has done many horrible wrongdoings. First, he broke a toilet seat and left it in the toilet bowl. Gross. Secondly, he used a fart bomb in class, and had to delay everyone's time doing a chinese test. He was almost expelled. There were others. Just so many, such that whenever something bad happened, everyone in our class would indict him as the culprit, just like the boy who cried wolf, except that he doesnt bluff others.
But, he has a poor background. He came from a poor family, and ever since then, he had endured many vicissitudes of life. Although some sentimental souls become maudlin for his sad story, the fact that that he did many bad things is still there.

There was once a poor boy, with lived on the streets of poverty. He had a very bad childhood. When he was born, his parents had abandoned him as he had a birth defect.
He had only his left hand. Later, he was adopted and raised by a legion of villagers.
10 years later, somehow, he managed to remember his past after much nostalgia. Everything. Hurt, he would always cry at night to relieve the pain inside him. He was unable to accept the fact that his parents were that cruel to him.
He tried to tell himself to forget everything, that it was all mendacious. But, he couldn't. It kept ringing in his mind, his parents were parsimonious people, greedy for money. All his friends classmates in school treated him like an expatriate. He was completely rendered helpless.
All he could do was to suffer in silence.

This week, I shall talk about a field trip. Here it goes...
It was the day right after Chinese New Year. Our teacher decided to go on a field trip, with everyone having a innate festive mood. He suggested that we could go on a trip to watch movies. But, there weren't much movies to watch during then. Then, out teacher answered the students' spontaneous gestures. Someone suggested on going in a maze.
That wasn't such a bad idea. In fact, eveyone said yes the moment he mentioned it.
In the blink of eye, we arrived at the maze. It was huge! To encourage us to particpate, he said that whoever completed the maze 1st would win some attractive prizes. Then, everyone started running. To them, it was deemed as impossible. The maze was just too tortuous!
Amazingly, my best friend managed to reach the exit in less then 5 mins! I was dumbfounded. When I tried asking him for his secret, he gave me an answer that was totally irrelevant to the maze.
I just couldn't figure it out =/

Today, I think I will be kind enough not to talk about school. Here goes the story... I laid in my bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. I felt bored. There was no homework and nobody bought the newspapers. Unfortunately, my computer was under repair. I then decided to turn on the television.
I flipped through the channels and found one then caught my attention. It was a drama serial and today's episode was on the police trying to solve a mystery and catch the person behind it.
The murderer panicked and looked at all directions. With that he ran to the left. Then, he thought of a impeccable subterfuge to help him escape. To his left, there was a closed gate, with no lock. He then pushed it wide open and threw surrounding items down to make it seem he went that way. Next, he wan towards the right, fleeing for his life.
Soon after, the police came running. They looked in all directions, and saw the messy pathway on the left. Sure enough, the police were gullible enough to fall for the fallacious trick the murderer had concocted.
I couldn't believe that the police were that easy to be tricked. ._.''

School. Isn't there an end to it? Guess not. Looking at the whiteboard, my mind started to wander off... I was walking down the hallway, when I spotted a suspicious looking person in black. Probably an interloper, I thought.
Why was he here? What is he going to do? Who was he? There were just too many questions. Without further delay, I tailed him closely. The man creeped round the corner, secretly stashing the rugged old bag he was carrying into his cache. In a flash, he scurried away.
Curious, I opened the cursory hidden bag. One word. Shock. I thought it was some rubbish, but it was the antithesis of it.
Cash. Most likely from the cafeteria. That man was swallowed by cupidity, as in the bag there were at least a few thousand dollars!
Not knowing what to do, I threw the sack into a garbage can and ran. "Rinnnnnnnnng!!" I awoke from my daydream, noticing it was recess time.
I dashed out with my wallet.

Bored? Here's something that won't add to your life. School. Find it a bore? Maybe that's how I feel. Mentioning the word boring, there was an incident which caused me unduly worry.
Recess was just over. I had got back to my seat, gulping down huge amounts of oxygen adn water at simultaneously. Out of the blue, when our chinese teacher, Ms Ng, arrived, a student complained that his pet hamster was missing and said that I had allegedly took them. What? I couldn't believe my ears. Me. A pet stealer. Wow.
Upon hearing his false accusation, I stood up and declaimed against this injustice. Despite all his words, I still persevered that I didn't take his hamsters. In a moment of anger, I blurted out, "Yeah, I am culpable for the liquidation of your hamsters. Happy now?"
Suddenly, I heard a squeak from that student's bag. No wonder.

What a bad day. It all started with getting up late and now this. Dan was starting to get on my nerves. He kept nettling me by throwing stapler bullets at my head. What a nuisance. But, what could i do? He was infamous for his notorious acts around school. None of the teachers dared to reprimand him.
He always was biased, only targeting me. What wrong did I do to desreve this? He would always inveigh me with loads of vulgarities. Only after school I could escape his clutches by scurrying through the mammoth throng of students.
What a really bad day. =(

It was yet another period of mathematics. I couldnt help but give out a huge sigh. I looked at the clock. 10.35am. I stared out the window, thinking: it seemed like eternity for school to end, while also trying to solve the cryptic maths problem.
The bell rang. I looked at the clock again. 10.45am. I looked at my table and suddenly remebered that I left my physics textbook in the lab! Worried, I importuned our maths techer, Miss Tan to let me retrieve it, which eventuated in me being late for the next lesson.
Our chemistry teacher, Mr Tay, then asked me why i was late, and i came up with an excuse that i forgot my maths stuff. Mr Tay then told me the incontrovertible fact that my maths stuff were right on my desk. An expression of embarrassment came over my face.
The next thing i knew, laughter permeated the classroom.

In the past, whenever i made many mistakes in my science homework, i was doomed. The teacher always asks me to attend sporadic remedials for about an hour. Although i knew that remedials was for my own good, i wasn’t as zealous as some other students.
During the remedials, all the teacher talked was the same topic over and over again. I tried to keep myself awake and pay attention. However, my efforts were fruitless. As time elapsed, i woke up, noticing that the other students were giggling away. What had happened? I looked around, garbled, only to see the teacher looking disgusted.
I had left a small puddle of saliva on the table.
( This is a made up story. -_-”)

Topic: Marine Life
The ocean is just so beautiful.
Have you ever been to someplace to awe at the amazing world of the sea? I bet some of you did. In the past, many sea creatures used to roam around freely in the ocean, without a care in the world. It wasnt until humans started living, that some of these precious species of marine life are threatened or endangered.
Until recently, humankind seemed to view the ocean as a source of infinite resources. Its vast size and depth and unexplored frontiers made the ocean appear invulnerable to overexploitation. The truth is that the populations of many species are decreasing at an unsustainable rate, and the number of species listed as endangered from marine life families such as whales, dolphins, manatees and dugongs, salmon, seabirds, sea turtles, and sharks to name a few, are on the rise. Although it is difficult to perceive because marine life is not as visible as animals on land, it is equally if not more vulnerable to problems such as habitat destruction and overexploitation. Shallow water animals that breathe air, like turtles, manatees (dugongs), and whales are often hit by boats and caught in fishing gear. Species such as turtles that lay their eggs on land often lose their nurseries due to coastal development. Animals that have taken millions of years to evolve, that are invaluable to the ecosystem, have vanished from places were they once flourished.
Why are these animal species decreasing so fast?
Habitat destruction is a huge problem in the marine environment. Habitats are destroyed by:
Destructive fishing activity: bottom trawling and dynamiting coral reefs destroy entire ecosystems.
Coastal development: habitats are destroyed when marshes are dredged for real estate development. Soil runoff and erosion result in excess nutrients from fertilizers and domestic sewage, which then leads to harmful algae blooms that block sunlight and deplete the water of oxygen. It also causes silt to build-up on coral reefs, which blocks sunlight necessary for coral to grow.
Pollution: development near coastal waters contaminates the Ocean with toxic substances, such as industrial chemicals, pesticides, and motor oil.
Dredging ship channels: Removes accumulated sediment and pollutants re-suspending them into the water. Dredging can also destroy sea grass beds and other habitats that provide food, shelter, and breeding grounds. The dredged material must be disposed of, and is often dumped into salt marshes damaging a very productive marine habitat.
How can we help to keep these species alive?
Marine Protected Areas : marine sites such as sanctuaries, fisheries management areas, state conservation areas, and wildlife refuges established to protect habitats, endangered species, and to restore the health of marine ecosystems in areas jeopardized by habitat and species loss.
Examples: NOAA National Marine Sanctuaries: USA
Marine Reserves: marine sites that provide a higher degree of ecosystem protection by prohibiting fishing, mineral extraction, and other habitat-altering activities. Marine Reserves are far more effective than MPAs, but unfortunately they are not as common.
See: Roberts, C.M. and J.P. Hawkins. 2000. Fully-protected marine reserves: a guide. (PDF: 6.62MB) WWF Endangered Seas Campaign, 1250 24th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037, USA and Environment Department, University of York, York, YO10 5DD, UK.
Example: Marine Reserves in New Zealand
Land use and development regulation: An integrated approach to land use and management based on scientific knowledge is needed to protect coastal areas. Policy makers need to be informed on the impact coastal development is having on marine habitats through accessible and evidence-based information.
Monitoring and reporting: some conservation efforts are empowering the citizens with the responsibility for monitoring water quality in their coastal communities through sampling and testing, photographing fouled areas, and providing information to local policy makers for action.
Zoning: related to integrated land use and development management, zoning coastal areas into MPAs, Marine Reserves, approved fishing areas, with varying levels of use has the potential to slow some of the habitat degradation caused by development. The Great Barrier Reef is managed in this way. Through cooperation among local, state, and national governments, this approach may provide a viable solution to all stakeholders from tourists, to the fishing industry, to conservation efforts etc.
Although habitat destruction has been increasing for many years, the protection of marine habitats has only recently become an issue of critical importance to conservation efforts, local and national governments, and international marine conservation groups. The Ocean’s invulnerability to human activity is now being realized as a myth. Coastal regions are still experiencing intense pressure by exploding coastal populations; however there are solutions at hand to prevent further damage from occurring.
